How to bid — a simple guide

Choose “Sign in”, then “Register to bid”. Fill in your name, address, phone number and email, and pick a password.

Your address lets me work out postage and send your records once you win.

I check every new account by hand, so there is a short wait. You will get an email when you are approved.

After that, sign in with your email and password whenever you like.

Open “Auction” in the menu at the top to see every record in the sale.

Each row shows a photograph, the artist, the grade (condition) and the current bid.

Click a record to see larger photographs, the full condition notes, and — where I have one — a short clip so you can hear it play.

The price shown is the current highest bid.

Use “Add to cart” to keep a record on your shortlist. Your cart is just your own private list — adding a record does not place a bid yet.

Add as many as you like; you decide which ones to bid on next.

In your cart, type the most you are willing to pay into a record’s “Your max” box, then choose “Submit all bids”. (Each record’s own page has a “Place bid” button that works the same way.)

You do not pay that full amount. The system bids for you, a little at a time, only as far as it needs to — never above your maximum. If someone outbids you, I email you so you can decide whether to go higher.

When the auction ends, the highest bidder wins each record. I email you an invoice with the final prices and postage — you will also find it under “Invoices” in your account menu.

Pay using the details shown on the invoice. Once I have posted your parcel, it moves to “Orders” together with its tracking number — and your records are on their way to you.
